Jason went to bed on Christmas Eve, knowing that tomorrow he will leave this country for the first time in his life. His family will be holding a Christmas celebration, after his parents moved to London. He had mixed emotions about this trip, being in a different country he will have to travel by plane (after watching Why Planes Crash that night, he was terrified.)

After waking up and brushing his teeth abruptly (followed by a small sob) he picked up his bags and prepared himself for the journey ahead. Upon leaving the safety of his flat, he walked down the stairs muttering things in some unknown language when reaching the bottom of the stairs (after what seemed to be forever to Jason). He unwillingly opened to doors of the apartment blocks, a burst of freezing air hit Jason. Outside the door lay a snowdrift, a drift in the place of his car (the plan was to drive to the car yard and get a bus to the airport, however this seems almost impossible now).

The fate of Jason is now in your hands, choose it wisely. And remember if you decide to make it a dream my English teacher will find you! Please send the ending to me in comments, if I like it I may post it.

ENJOY

Finally!

Guess what, yup this is a post about my holiday. I have decided to use some of my own time to actually get started on my holiday blog! Without further ado, please enjoy my holiday…☺☺

Exorcist sick!

My family’s holiday planning is started very early in the year, for example, the planning was started in January. On the 8th of December 2:30am, our holiday began. After boarding the plane and starting to ascend it went downhill fast. Being hungry and tired has always disagreed with me and when combined it is bad. REALLY bad. About two hours into a 13-hour flight, it happened, BAD .🤒 I had never vomited so much in my life, and when the plane moved up and down so did the vomit: one row in front and one behind. I was ten years old and had just been sick – Exorcist sick.

Arrival!

After another 13 hours of hell, we finally arrived in Los Angeles. American customs are some of the biggest in the world, two hours of customs and immigration. A further hour and a half were spent on getting our bags and finding a taxi. Jet lagged and overall exhausted, we fell asleep attempting to get rid of the jet lag knowing that we are now on holiday.

Day 1: Los Angeles

Hi guys, this is my first full day in Los Angeles Hope you enjoy!                                                                                                      After waking up early, I knew that today will mostly consist of getting things prepared for the rest of the holiday. My mum has not yet arrived as she finishes work two days after we arrive and will be joining us. At about ten, we departed from our motel to whatever phone shop in the area, to collect the American SIM cards for our phones. Next on the agenda, shopping. We knew we couldn’t eat takeaway every night, so we drove to the nearby VONS. As I recall it was next to a school. When we entered it was almost as big as a Bunnings (my local DIY warehouse, similar to a Home Depot). Amongst the essentials: food, drink, etc I found an eight-litre tub of cheese balls – AMAZING!!

After leaving VONS we decided that we would enjoy tonight with TV and chips. 30 channels later we found a movie worth watching: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.  Devouring half the tub of cheese balls (a huge feat by the way), and drinking three litres of Solo the movie was finished. Exhausted we decide to sleep off any more jet lag.

The next holiday blog of mine will be a bit more interesting as we start our activities. Tomorrow Universal Studios theme park.

Netiquette

After my last post, you’re probably one of my only readers so congratulations (maybe), I don’t know. I won’t even bother to say it, this is a post about Netiquette. I have a vague idea of what it is. I assume it’s the mix between Network and Etiquette. From that assumption, I would imagine that it means the rules of the internet (and my blog of course). These strict rules include: NO spamming, try to avoid sarcasm and identify yourself when on the internet.

First of all and most importantly NO spamming my blog, (not to be mistaken with the disgusting canned meat, if you can even call it that). I hate the idiots that decide to spam me. The main purpose of this rule is to prevent frustration with computers. It’s not funny, it’s stupid and inconvenient. If you are a spammer get off my site now.

Ok, you made it this far, thanks. The second rule is to avoid sarcasm. If you use sarcasm in a piece of text it’s difficult to recognise the difference between sarcasm and seriousness. For instance, if you were to say that you’re having so much fun reading this blog when I read the comments, I don’t know if you’re being serious or if you’re insulting me.

Now lastly, identify yourself. If you don’t identify yourself to me (not personal information of course) when you comment I will assume that you’re a 50-year-old stalker and I will act accordingly. My point is, that when it’s just written down it’s hard to interpret your expression. The human brain uses your facial expression and tone to decide whether you’re being sarcastic or if you are being serious. Without that information, it’s almost impossible to tell.

I thank however many of you there are, for reading the rules of the internet and my blog. I hope you abide by them closely because if you don’t I will find… I’d better stop there for both of our sakes.  Anyway, thank you for reading this blog about rules. That’s a strange way of looking at it but I guess it’s true. You have just read at your own free will (hopefully) a blog about rules. Hmm, bye then.

Game On

Hi guys (and gals) guess what, I’m afraid so, yes this is not about my holiday, very sorry for the misleading title.  I’m now thinking I should just stop the whole holiday adventure thing because honestly, I don’t think I will ever get to post a holiday blog:( 🙁 🙁 I’ll just get it over with. We watched a video which explains what you shouldn’t do on the internet. This includes: not giving people your password (pretty obvious if you ask me), that nothing is free and that you should regulate the amount of time that you should spend playing games.

First of all, not giving people your passwords. It pretty obvious but still important; in the video, it shows a girl gives her best friend her password (a little bit stupid). Anyway, she is given the password and uses it to get into her social media page, of which she used to post a picture which was offensive to another friend. This proves that you can’t give your password to ANYONE, not even your friends.

Secondly, the video tells us that nothing is free. I don’t really agree with this, as I ‘buy’ free things all the time. But in the video, a kid finds an app that gives you free ringtones, a perfectly fine thing to do, or so he thought. He didn’t read the terms and conditions – something none of us does, I mean it’s like 28 pages of writing that does not make any sense. Somehow he managed to get ripped off of some money. He must have ‘accidentally’ put in his credit card details, I don’t know.

And lastly something I can relate to – moderating your time playing games. The video shows these two teenagers that would stay up playing games till 2:00 AM playing this game that looks terrible, but that’s not the point, I have no say in their taste in games. They got really tired during school and the teenager that looked a bit like Frodo Baggins even fell asleep in class, obviously had no respect for the teachers.

So after watching this poorly-directed, terribly-acted video, it left me thinking, this may just be the worst video I have ever seen. But the morals were there for the things you shouldn’t do on the internet. The actors weren’t exactly Macaulay Culkins and will most definitely not be getting acting awards anytime soon. I hope you didn’t hate this post but I fully understand if you don’t want to read any more of my posts as I find it unlikely that I will ever get to post a blog about my holiday. See ya if I see ya.

About me

Wow, I can’t believe anybody’s actually reading this… well I guess we should get started then. My name is Joseph and I live in Queensland, Australia. My blogs will normally be about my adventures in the USA, however, this particular blog will be about me, in the least self-centered way possible. So to start off, my hobbies – I have always enjoyed academics and I am pleased to be enjoying this at my new high school. I am still adjusting to the new school but now I’m fitting in nicely. But over the past two years I have been enjoying football (soccer) through various teams in and around my area.  I want to hear about your hobbies so PLEASE reply in comments what yours are. 😀

I’m afraid there’s more about me, much apologies. Anyway, an interesting time-consuming fact about me is that the entirety of my family, including all of my ancestors,  have been born in England.  I was born just two weeks after my family arrived is this country and our possessions: beds, seats, cribs etc had not yet arrived by the container, so for the first week of my life I had to sleep in a cardboard box.

This blog will be the story of my 2015 America trip to the finest detail: plane trip, skiing and the destinations that I visited on the holiday.  I hope to see that you continue to read my blogs and hopefully enjoy them. I wish you a wonderful year and hope to see you again, well you know what I mean. BYE!!!:)

The advantages and disadvantages of the Internet

Hi guys (and gals), guess what.  Yep, I am not doing a post on my trip AGAIN!  I am afraid my teacher says I have to do it on the advantages and disadvantages of the internet.  So… yeah anyway, have to get started, the advantages and disadvantages of the internet.

First up on the agenda, advantages of the internet: Google is a fundamental part of the internet.  It provides the user infinite knowledge: stock market progress, breaking news, facts and anything you could ever think of.  With it by your side you can know anything at the click of a button, I believe this is the purpose of the internet, not so much social media or movies (although this is still important).

Also the social media network, it binds the world together as one.  It allows you to talk with your friends and family both close and distant.  Some think that social media limits face-to-face conversation, but what if your friends or family are somewhere you can’t reach, for example, a different continent which you can’t afford to visit or they are they’re too far away.  The world needs social media to connect people together.  Without it, the family and relationships would grow distant.

Now the disadvantages; to be perfectly honest, I can’t think of any.  However, I am told that I have to come up with some.  So yeah, here are the disadvantages.  Apparently, cyber-bullying is worse than actual bullying (I don’t know?) and that it’s the internet’s fault for inappropriate content.  I don’t think that’s true I believe that it is the fault of the person who posted it, blame them, it is also said that it’s easy to hack and to steal your money and other personal information. The truth is it isn’t, it’s very difficult. So, in the end, I blame the users, not the internet itself                                                                                               Thanks for reading.
